From the Desk of Lorraine Lundy

On July 24 - 27, 2024, 698 Soroptimists meet in Bellevue, Washington for the 48th SIA Biennial Convention with the intention of "Reaching Higher" for women and girls. Our big goal is to reach 500,000 women and girls by year 2031. SIA CEO Michelle Burnette commented on our Soroptimist "GLOW" and the presence of our enthusiasm.

This is our time to encounter our potential by analyzing where our club is and where we want to be. Make meaningful connections and be an example of your values, celebrate success and seek opportunity to give everyone a voice, be intuitive and initiate teamwork.

Our own and now SIA Board Member Michelle did a workshop on "Volunteer Management: It is an Art” that was well received. Keynote speaker Robyn Benincasa gave us ways to boost the human spirit by taking us on her adventure race and explained the implementation of her "GRIT" acronym. G-uts, R- esilence/respect, I-nnovation, T-eamwork. Work as a team, find a way, make a way.

Please think about joining like-minded women and come to the next biennial meeting in Seoul, Korea, July 22-26, 2026. Be ready to have multiple wardrobe changes in one day, sight-see places of interest, and maybe enjoy a new food item. S.I. Tampa is a team with the goal to work together in our local community and to keep and enhance the Soroptimist mission. "If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together". African proverb WE ARE ONE. Let's continue to do this together. Convention Delegate Lorraine Lundy
